Services in Salinas de Guaranda

Milton, Paulus Mikkola, his wife Lisbeth, their 19th month old daughter, Lisbeth's brother, and Walt and Avis made the trip to Salinas to the 'factory.' Paulus served as translator. The factory is a handcraft shop where local women are employed to knit a variety to clothing.

It is a about two hours from Riobamba and the ride takes one into the shadow of the famous mountain Chimbarazo. The height is over 21,000 feet. It is striking in its size and beauty. On this trip, tens and tens of llamas could be seen browsing near the road.

Mount Chimborazo is over 21,000 feet above sea level.

About fourteen factory workers, believing women, attended the service. A discussion was held based on three questions that the area ladies had suggested to Walt when he was there in November 2014. They were: What is sin? How do I know if I am sinning? How do I know if I am a child of God? Romans 8:13-16 was used as the basis for the discussion.

The workers produce very high quality wear at a reasonable price.

Salinas is nearly always cold due to the elevation and winds blowing off the mountains. The entire area is beautiful. The slopes are steep.

Salinas is often wet and cold. It is also at 12,000 elevation.

After the discussion our group headed back to Riobamba for the night, but not before stopping at the chocolate factory located in Salinas!
