Sunday Services in Quito January 4, 2015

Communion services were held in Quito at the home of the Panizo's. About nineteen people attended. The serving of communion was done in two shifts due to a car accident causing traffic backup and the late arrival of some service guests. The sermon text was Psalm 84:1-4, a text for the Sunday from the theme "In the house of God."

The sparrow hath found a house.

"The sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow an nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars."

Both before and after services, discussions were held regarding a schedule for Bible Class, or as called here, La Escuela de Biblia, The School of the Bible. The congregation agreed to hold a class every Wednesday at 6 pm for the duration of our stay. The topics for presentation and discussion were suggested by individual persons, including Walt. They include: Overview of the OT and NT, baptism, communion, courtship, marriage and family, conscience, confession, and the Church Law of Christ.

In addition, a local Bible Camp will be held on February 28-29. The Satuday topics will be: The Fall into Sin, the Christian in Society, and Brother' Keeper. Alex Panizo agreed to do the presentation on the Christian in Society. The Sunday topics will be: Luther and the Reformation.

The request was made by the parents of two boys for a Confirmation School. In addition, one young girl, whose parents are not part of the congregation, wants to come making three students. It will be abbreviated, of course. There will be only time for about eight topics. One of the boys is handicapped. Dates of the event are January 30-February 1. We hope to use a community building suitable for teaching.

During our trip to the services we walked by and visited at the Pet Shop of Piedad Panizo.

Today is starting off with some sun. "Hoy hace sol." Quito is 52 F at 8am and will peak at 72 F for a few hours in the afternoon.
